PHILIP ALBERSTAT is a Partner at Fuel Industries, a company that produces and finances film, television and branded content.  

Prior to joining Fuel, Philip was an agent with the William Morris Agency and a key member of the agency's independent film
division, William Morris Independent. He was involved in the packaging, financing and selling of more than seventy five films.
Some of the many films he was involved with included, "
Thank You For Smoking" (directed by Jason Reitman, Juno), Oscar
Nominee, "
Away From Her", "Factory Girl", "Bobby" and numerous others.  From 1991 to 2004, Philip was a lawyer based in
London, England and held various legal positions. He was a partner with City firm Osborne Clarke and prior to this, was Head of
Media at Baker McKenzie's London office.  During this time, he established himself as a leading expert in the areas of film
finance and media law. He was involved in many multi-jurisdiction film and television co-productions and co-financings.  

While working as a lawyer, Philip was very active as a writer of numerous books and legal articles. His books include, "
The
Insiders Guide to Film Finance
" (pub. 2004 Elsevier),"Law And The Media"(pub. Focal Press 2005) and "The Independent
Producers Guide to Film and TV Contracts
"(pub. Focal Press 1999).  He is on the board of Entertainment Law Review and the
British Independent Film Awards (BIFAS) He was a recipient of the UK's Lawyer/Hifal Award as Solicitor of the Year and is listed
in both the Legal 500 and Chambers as an expert in film finance and media law.

In addition to his legal writing he has produced several television and theatrical feature films. He won an Emmy in 2004 for the
film, "
The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie", for Showtime. He was previously nominated in 1993 for an Emmy for the film, "The Song
Spinner", (Showtime).  Philip holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) and a Bachelor of Arts (History) from Dalhousie University in
Canada and a Law degree (LLB) from University College London and The London School of Economics.
  JEFF BEGUN is a Production Executive at The Incentives Office and was a Business Development VP at Axium International until
that company ceased to exist.  He came up with the idea of a payroll company tracking U.S. production incentives, and created the
Complete Guide to U.S. Production Incentives, which is the industry standard.  He frequently participates and moderates
production incentives panels around the country.

Before Axium he was an independent producer and writer, with about a dozen films to his credit.  Prior to moving to California, he
owned a theatre chain and independent film distribution company in Chicago.  Begun completed coursework for a PhD in
Cognitive Psychology at Carnegie-Mellon University.
  KEN DHALIWAL has been a partner at Heenan Blaikie since 2001. He is a business lawyer who focuses in the areas of media,
entertainment and intellectual property law. Ken primarily practises in the film, television, book publishing and live theatre
industries. His national and international clients are involved in a wide range of activities from financing to production and
distribution. He acts for banks, investors, film and television producers, distributors, broadcasters as well as creators and artists.

the Globe and Mail, the Financial Post and the Toronto Star newspapers as well as CBC Newsworld Business News. Ken has
been peer-rated as a leading entertainment lawyer in Lexpert magazine's annual survey.
Combining his financial sensibility with an eye for filmmaking, RANDALL EMMETT (Producer) has produced over 50 feature films
in less than 10 years. With a reputation for packaging movies and getting them made – no small feat in a town full of good
intentions – Emmett’s films have been seen around the world, debuting at such festivals as Sundance, Berlin and Toronto, with
many being nominated for Independent Spirit Awards. Emmett is a partner with George Furla and owner of Emmett/Furla Films, a
production company with a distribution and financing deal with Nu Image/Millennium Films, that rolled into the publicly traded
company, Family Room Entertainment, for which they serve as co-chairmen.

Emmett was raised in Miami and graduated from the prestigious performing arts high school, New World School of The Arts.
From there he headed to New York to attend The School of Visual Arts for film school with a major in producing. Among his many
public speaking engagements, he served as keynote speaker at his high school alma mater commencement ceremony in 2002,
and as guest speaker at the Miami Film Festival and UCLA Extension (“Indie Film Business: Getting It Made, Getting It Sold”).
  JANA EDELBAUM founded iDeal Partners Film Fund in 2006.  Adhering to the parameters of Section 181 of the American
Jobs Creation Act, iDeal finances and produces independent films made in the United States in partnership with the
country's top film producers.

Prior to forming iDeal, Jana Edelbaum spent ten years as an independent producer.? Her credits include ROMANCE &
CIGARETTES, which was released this fall at the Film Forum in New York City and has remained in the top five
per-screen earners throughout its run.  ROMANCE stars James Gandolfini, Kate Winslet and Susan Sarandon and
was written and directed by John Turturro.  Jana also produced ADVICE FROM A CATERPILLAR, which won the Best
Feature Award at the US Comedy Art Festival in 2002.

Before discovering film production, Jana worked in the fixed income and mezzanine finance divisions of Morgan Stanley
International UK, and the mergers & acquisitions division of Ansbacher Media UK.? She is a graduate of Brown
University, with a double major in Political Science and American Civilizations.
  LUCIE L. GUERNSEY joined Cedar Lane Asset Management LLC in January 2008, a fund organized invest in the entertainment
industry, with portfolio investments primarily consisting of secured asset based loans to “middle-market” distributors of
entertainment content such as film and music assets. The fund will consider other entertainment-based transactions, provided
that there is adequate security senior priority of payment. Finally, the fund will take limited equity or rights-in-equity positions in as
element of its debt financing transactions.

Formerly, Ms. Guernsey joined IDB Bank as Senior Vice President to head up the Bank’s Sports, Entertainment and Media Group
in the Corporate Lending Division. Previously, Ms. Guernsey was Executive Director of WestLB AG’s NY Branch, where she set up
that institution’s global Media Entertainment Group, and, prior to that, was the former Chemical Bank’s VP in charge of Media and
Entertainment Industries. Her 25 years’ experience encompasses the film, television, cable, broadcasting and publishing
industries, and her broad expertise includes activities such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity, European Capital
Markets, Bank Syndications and Private Placements. Guernsey responsibilities were for the global development of the bank's
financing activities in specialized area of Media and Entertainment in both traditional and investment banking areas.

Ms. Guernsey has spoken at a number of seminars and panel discussions, most recently at Columbia University and New York
University’s MBA schools.
  JASON W. JANEGO is an independent consultant, attorney, and producer’s representative focusing on the development of
innovative strategies for distribution and financing in all areas of the entertainment business. Previously, he was the Chief
Operating Officer of Big Beach Films, a New York-based production and distribution company whose credits include “Away We
Go”, “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Is Anybody There” and “Sunshine Cleaning”.  Before joining Big Beach, Mr. Janego was Head of
Business & Legal Affairs for Magnolia Pictures, Magnolia Home Entertainment, and Landmark Theatres, all of which are
subsidiaries of the vertically-integrated media company 2929 Entertainment. Mr. Janego has also worked in the Business Affairs
department at Miramax Films and with the film sales company Cinetic Media.  Earlier in his career, he was employed as an
attorney in the legal department of the NBC television network and with Artemis Records.  Mr. Janego received his J.D. from the
University of Michigan Law School and his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University.
PAT SWINNEY KAUFMAN currently serves as Executive Director of the New York State Governor’s Office for Motion Picture and
Television Development and as Deputy Commissioner of Empire State Development where she is responsible for making
available and marketing the State of New York as a location for film, television and commercial production. To foster the growth of
these industries throughout the state, Kaufman’s office facilitates production by identifying and clearing locations and providing a
state-wide network of federal, state and local contacts to ensure the highest level of film-friendliness. In addition, the office
monitors legislative, regulatory and tax initiatives that will affect the industry.

Kaufman also oversees the new Empire State Film Production Credit incentive program which is designed to offer significant
incentives to qualified productions choosing to film in New York. The program was signed into law in August 2004 and has
already had a significant impact on film and television production in New York.

Kaufman serves on the boards of several industry organizations. Currently she is President of the Association of Film
Commissioners International, and a board member of the Hamptons International Film Festival and FilmUS. She is also an
active member and advisor to many other film festivals and groups promoting filming in New York, including the New York
Production Alliance.
PATRICIA V. MAYER is a Partner at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp in Los Angeles.  A well known and respected entertainment
attorney who practice focuses on entertainment law, including the development, production, financing, and distribution of motion
pictures, television movies and series, home video and interactive projects. Intellectual property, copyright and unfair competition
law. Literary publishing, merchandising, and licensing, recording and music publishing. Entertainment lending and financing and
related matters.
Patty has represented a major motion picture studio in negotiating a 24-picture output deal with a leading independent
production company; A major motion picture studio in a joint venture with an independent distributor to distribute tent pole films;  
Private investors in investing development money in tent pole film series on a fully recourse basis;  A film production/distribution
subsidiary of a major entertainment conglomerate in a rent-a-system deal with a large independent producer; Entrepreneurs
creating an independent distribution company in negotiations with banks, pay television outlets, subdistributors and mezzanine
and equity financiers.

  TOM NARDOZZI is a Tax Managing Director with the Entertainment, Media and Communications (“EMC”) Sector of  
PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (“PwC”) in New York.   He serves as a national entertainment and media tax expert for PwC, advising
engagements serving major movie and television producers, including CBS, Disney, NBC Universal, NewsCorp, Sony, Time
Warner, and Viacom.   Prior to joining PwC, Tom spent twenty-two years in private industry, the last twelve of which were as
Director of Tax Research and Planning for NBC, where he worked extensively on tax planning for broadcast and cable television
programming, and domestic and international acquisitions.  
WARREN NIMCHUK is a consultant for Media Capital.  Prior to joining Media Capital Warren was an associate partner in the Tax
Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working in the Vancouver office. He is part of the firm’s Technology,
Information Communications and Entertainment and Media (TICE) industry practice.

For more than 15 years, Warren has worked with US producers and major studios as well as top-tier Canadian film and
television producers, broadcasters, sales companies, touring entertainers and gaming companies. He advises clients on
various tax matters and has extensive experience in financing structuring and tax credit planning. He has helped draft incentive
legislation and continues to act as an advisor to various Canadian provinces, US states and foreign jurisdictions on incentives
related to film and television distribution and the financing of feature films.  Warren graduated from the University of Manitoba with
a BA in 1978, and earned his CA designation in 1989.

As a regular speaker at entertainment industry conferences, Warren is well known in Canada, the US and abroad for his
expertise on matters relating to the film and television industry. He is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Academy of
Canadian Cinema and Television, and the Canadian Film and Television Producers Association. Warren is also a past chairman
of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Film and Sound Recording Development Corporation, and a past member of the Board
of Directors for the Taxation Committee of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Accountants.
GEORGE NORFLEET is the director of the Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of Film, Television and
Digital Media. He began his professional career in advertising before segueing into commercial and then feature film production.
Along with his extensive management and feature film production experience, George is also a published writer having written
articles on both the film and music industries. As the film office director, George oversees all of the office's programs and
operations and focuses the Department's resources on marketing Connecticut as a potential locale for
filming movies, television shows, series, commercials, music videos and all forms of digital media.
  NICHOLAS PALEOLOGOS is a cum laude graduate of Tufts University.  He received his Masters Degree in Public Administration
from Harvard University. In 2007 he was the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from the Boston Conservatory.

A two-time Tony Award winning producer, whose credits include both the London and Broadway productions of
CHITTY CHITTY
BANG BANG
, Paleologos was also the recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the HBO film IN THE GLOAMING--
which marked the directorial debut of the late Christopher Reeve. His other film for HBO was the Emmy nominated LANSKY,
starring Richard Dreyfus. Feature films include,
HURLYBURLY and GHOSTS OF MISSISSIPPI. Paleologos’ most recent film was
the PBS documentary,
LOUIS BRANDEIS, THE PEOPLE’S ATTORNEY.

Prior to his career as a theater and film producer, Paleologos served for 14 years as a member of the Massachusetts House of
Representatives, where his primary focus was education and the arts. He was House Chairman of the Education, Arts and
Humanities Committee from 1985 to 1990. During that period, he was the author of several major initiatives including the
Performing Arts Student Series (PASS Program), the 1988 Boston/Moscow Cultural Exchange program, the Student Freedom of
Expression law, and the College Opportunity Bond law.  Paleologos also founded Boston’s Stuart Street Playhouse in September
of 2000. Since 2007, he has served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Film Office. Under his leadership, the Film Office
has attracted more than a billion dollars of new direct spending on film and television production to the Commonwealth.
CHRISTINE PELUSO has been with Tax Credits, LLC since inception and directs the national development of the company’s Film
Production Tax Credit business.  In addition, Christine works with legislatures and film offices to develop optimal tax credit
programs through effective legislation.  Prior to joining Tax Credits, LLC, Christine worked for ten years with various public
companies handling debt restructuring, SEC compliance and  Investor Relations.  In addition, she worked as a Financial
Consultant with Salomon Smith Barney.  Christine holds a BA in Economics from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a J.D.
from Delaware Law School in Wilmington.  She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania at the State and Federal levels, as well as
U.S. Tax Court.
  ERIK PIECUCH is a Vice President/Senior Relationship Manager in the Entertainment Division at City National Bank in New York.  
He provides banking, lending, investment and cash management services to a broad range of entertainment clients, including
the film industry and the Broadway community.  His film financings total over $160 million and include “

”, “The Wrestler”, “(500) Days of Summer” and the upcoming “The Kids are All Right”.  Previously, Erik held various
private banking/lending positions at U.S. Trust, CIBC World Markets and Chemical Bank.  He is a graduate of Fordham University.

  LUIS C. SCHMIDT joined Olivares & Cía. in 1991, becoming a partner three years later in 1994. Mr. Schmidt discovered his
interest in Copyright law while working at Televisa, one of the largest broadcasting companies in the world.

He graduated in 1986 from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) holding a JD degree as well as a Masters in
Intellectual Property Law from Franklin Pierce Law Center in the United States. He has furthered his postgraduate studies at
other prestigious academic institutions, including Georgetown University, the University of Amsterdam and Universidad
Panamericana.

Mr. Schmidt is the author of over 100 articles in Intellectual Property law matters, a contributor to two books on copyright law and a
regular lecturer out post-graduate level. He sits on the board of directors at Copyright World and has acted as both Secretary and
President of the board of la Asociación Mexicana para la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (AMPPI) and the Mexican Group of
the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI).

Mr. Schmidt’s work at Olivares & Cia. is extensive, reaching most areas of media. He has a large practice in many industries,
including film, tv and radio production, distribution, exhibition or broadcasting; music publishing and sound recording production,

JEFF STEELE is a noted film finance expert in all matters of debt and equity, but also has a significant portfolio of hands-on

Currently, Jeff is the CFO for Los Angeles based
Magnet Media Group (MMG), an equity finance, production, and distribution
company. Jeff also manages his own consulting firm Film Closings, Inc.

Prior to handling the film closings at MMG, Jeff  worked as a director of film finance for Screen Capital International, a leading
entertainment financier and founding shareholder of Aramid Entertainment, where he focused on gap, pre-sale, tax credit, and
bridge funding.

On the producing side, Jeff was a partner at Plinyminor, a production company, where they produced Sony Classics “
Who Killed
the Electric Car?
” and the feature film “Mammoth” for NBC Universal’s Sci Fi Channel.

Jeff got his start in Los Angeles, working for the likes of Tom Freston, Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer, and Linda Obst to name a
few. He is a frequent panelist for film financing forums and he’s known for telling audiences what they need to know, but don’t
want to hear.
DAVID STEINBERG is a business lawyer, and partner at Heenan Blaikie, specializing in the areas of entertainment, media and
intellectual property. David primarily practices in the film, television, music, and book publishing industries. He acts for film and
television producers and distributors, broadcasters, Internet service providers, publishers, creators and manufacturers of home

BRUCE WEISS has been producing film and television for the past twenty years.  His work has encompassed all areas of
production, including feature films, commercials, documentary, television and high end industrial work for fortune 500
companies..  Mr. Weiss graduated from the State University of New York at StonyBrook in 1984, and after a brief stint working for a
New York based production facility, he formed his own production company.
   
In 1988 he became a principal founder and member of ACTION FEATURES and produced
THE UNBELIEVABLE TRUTH, which
was directed by Hal Hartley.  The film was released domestically by MIRAMAX during the summer of 1990 and received
widespread critical acclaim. In 1990 he produced his next feature film
TRUST, which was released by FINE LINE.   His film
SIMPLE MEN was released by FINE LINE in the fall of 1992 and was in the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival that
same year.  In 1995 he co-produced  Sam Shepard's
CURSE OF THE STARVING CLASS, which was adapted for the screen by
Bruce Beresford and stars James Woods, Kathy Bates and Lou Gosset.  In mid 1996 he produced a detective comedy called
THE MANTIS MURDER.  In 1998 Mr. Weiss produced
SIDE STREETS on which he partnered with MERCHANT IVORY
PRODUCTIONS.  The film stars Valeria Golino, Leon, Shashi Kapoor, Art Malik and Shabana Azmi and was released in 2001. In
2002 Mr Weiss completed production on ISLAND OF THE DEAD a psychological thriller starring Malcolm McDowell, Talisa Soto
and Mos Def.  In 2007 Mr. Weiss began producing a trilogy of remakes of films by the late Dutch Director Theo van Gogh.  The
films are
INTERVIEW directed by Steve Buscemi and starring Sienna Miller and Steve Buscemi.  INTERVIEW was released by
SONY CLASSICS in the summer of  2007.  
BLIND DATE directed by Stanley Tucci and starring Patty Clarkson was released in
the fall of 2009.  
SOMEWHERE TONIGHT directed by John Turturro will begin production in the spring of 2010.

same name.  Mr Weiss is also developing a television series centered around Eco-Tourism.
  KATHRYN WINDSOR is General Counsel of Tax Credit Finance, LLC. Prior to joining Tax Credit Finance, she represented the
company in all of its film financing transactions. Throughout her career she has concentrated her practice on commercial lending
and various types of tax credit transactions, including historic tax credit syndication.

Rhode Island based Tax Credit Finance is an industry leader in brokering and financing state motion picture production tax
incentives throughout the country. Since 2002, it has transacted in excess of $300 million in state historic, brownsfield and
